Combi, natural gas and LPG

Combustion figures

FigureNatural gas (G20)LPG (G31)
CO₂ at high rate
More infoHide infoAt max. rated heat output. Same figures in Technical data (1.9, Table 2) and Table 15 (7.1). No tolerance given. Measured at the flue gas testing point (234), probe about 135 mm in. The MI says the CO₂ is factory set and no adjustment is needed when installing a natural gas appliance.
9.2%10.8%
CO₂ at low rate
More infoHide infoAt min. rated heat output. Same figures in Technical data (1.9, Table 2) and Table 15 (7.1). No tolerance given.
8.8%10.5%
Maximum CO
More infoHide infoSection 7.2.2 says to test CO and CO₂ in chimney sweep mode but gives no CO limit.
Not given in MINot given in MI
CO/CO₂ ratio
Not given in MINot given in MI
O₂

Working inlet pressure
More infoHide infoThe MI says the appliance must not be operated outside these figures. It calls the point the testing point for gas supply pressure (fig. 2, item 7, shown on the gas valve). For LPG, section 5.1 says 37 mbar at the inlet to the appliance and section 7 says below or above 37 mbar at the testing point; no tolerance is given. Technical data gives a gas supply pressure of NG 20 mbar, LPG 37 mbar without saying where.
Gas valve test point
18–24 mbar
Appliance inlet
37 mbar
Gas valve test point
37 mbar
Gas rate at maximum
More infoHide infoMaximum gas flow rate after 10 minutes from lighting. NG G20 (CVnet 34.02 MJ/m³), LPG (CVnet 88 MJ/m³).
3.4 m³/h2.3 kg/h
Flue integrity
More infoHide infoAt the combustion air testing point (234.1), probe about 80 mm in, in chimney sweep mode. MI wording: O₂ must not be less than 20.6%, CO₂ must not exceed 0.2%. For type C13 or C33 flue systems.
O₂ ≥ 20.6%
CO₂ ≤ 0.2%
O₂ ≥ 20.6%
CO₂ ≤ 0.2%

Check these figures against the MI for the appliance in front of you, matched by GC number and manual date. Combustion work needs a calibrated analyser and a Gas Safe registered engineer.
