Combustion figures

FigureNatural gas (G20)
CO₂ at high rate
Not given in MI
CO₂ at low rate
Not given in MI
Maximum CO
More infoHide infoFrom the commissioning CO and combustion ratio flowchart, measured at the flue gas sampling point. The MI says the air/gas ratio valve is factory-set and must not be adjusted.
Max rate
less than 350 ppm
Min rate
less than 350 ppm
CO/CO₂ ratio
More infoHide infoFrom the commissioning flowchart. The servicing schedule (Frame 36) says if the ratio is greater than 0.004, and flue integrity, combustion circuit seals, inlet pressure and gas rate have been checked, contact Ideal.
Max rate
less than 0.0040
Min rate
less than 0.0040
O₂
Not given in MI
Working inlet pressure
More infoHide infoMI: minimum permitted operating pressure of 18 mb delivered to the appliance inlet, allowing 1 mb loss across the pipework from a minimum meter outlet of 19 mb. Checked at the gas cock test point with the boiler at maximum rate (hot tap fully open). The MI also says the 1:1 gas valve gives full output at inlet pressures as low as 14 mb, and gives a graph of pressure drop across the gas cock against heat input. Fault finding asks for more than 18 mbar at the boiler inlet.
Appliance inlet
18 mbar minimum
Gas rate at maximum
More infoHide infoMaximum DHW input (Table 3). Check at the gas meter with the boiler at full DHW output and no other appliance in use. Maximum CH input is 2.512 m³/h on all sizes (Table 2). Based on a gross CV of 38.7 MJ/m³.
24
2.512 m³/h
30
3.135 m³/h
35
3.657 m³/h
Flue integrity
More infoHide infoAt the air inlet sample point, boiler at maximum rate. The MI passes the check if either figure is met (O₂ more than or equal to 20.6% OR CO₂ less than or equal to 0.2%).
O₂ ≥ 20.6%
CO₂ ≤ 0.2%

Check these figures against the MI for the appliance in front of you, matched by GC number and manual date. Combustion work needs a calibrated analyser and a Gas Safe registered engineer.
