System boiler, natural gas

Combustion figures

FigureNatural gas (G20)
CO₂ at high rate
More infoHide infoTable 1, CO₂ content at Max. CH. The combustion is set at the factory: the MI says do not adjust the air/gas ratio valve.
15, 30

18, 24
9.5% ± 0.7
CO₂ at low rate
More infoHide infoTable 1, CO₂ content at Min. CH.

Maximum CO
More infoHide infoAt maximum and minimum rate (combustion check flowchart). Allow readings to stabilise before recording.
Less than 350 ppm
CO/CO₂ ratio
More infoHide infoAt maximum and minimum rate (combustion check flowchart). The servicing schedule (3.1) gives the same limit as 0.004: above it, go to the cleaning procedure.
Less than 0.0040
O₂
Not given in MI
Working inlet pressure
More infoHide infoCheck at maximum rate at the inlet gas pressure test point on the gas service cock, with all other gas appliances working. Supply is G20 20 mbar. The MI says 18 mb is the minimum delivered to the appliance inlet, allowing 1 mb loss across the pipework from a minimum meter outlet of 19 mb, and that the gas cock can reduce the pressure further when measured at its test point (pressure drop graph, MI p. 12). It also says the boiler can give full output down to 14 mb.
Appliance inlet
18 mbar minimum
Gas rate at maximum
More infoHide infoTable 2, central heating maximum. Calculated with a gross CV of 38.7 MJ/m³. Minimum: 0.500 m³/h (15, 18, 24), 0.622 m³/h (30).
15
1.537 m³/h
18
1.872 m³/h
24
2.512 m³/h
30
3.135 m³/h
Flue integrity
More infoHide infoAt the air inlet test point, boiler at maximum. The MI says O₂ ≥ 20.6% OR CO₂ ≤ 0.2%.
O₂ ≥ 20.6%
CO₂ ≤ 0.2%

Check these figures against the MI for the appliance in front of you, matched by GC number and manual date. Combustion work needs a calibrated analyser and a Gas Safe registered engineer.
