Combi, natural gas only

Combustion figures

FigureNatural gas (G20)
CO₂ at high rate
More infoHide infoThe MI says combustion is factory set, no combustion measurement is needed at commissioning, and the air/gas ratio valve must not be adjusted (Frame 36). At service it says to measure CO and CO₂ at the flue sampling point but gives no CO₂ figure (Frame 42).

CO/CO₂ ratio
More infoHide infoIf the ratio is greater than 0.004 and the flue system and combustion circuit seals have been checked and the inlet pressure and gas rate verified, contact Ideal (Frame 42, item 10).

Working inlet pressure
More infoHide infoThe MI says a minimum operating pressure of 18 mb can be assumed at the appliance inlet, allowing 1 mb loss from a minimum meter outlet of 19 mb (Gas Supply, MI p. 8). Fault finding asks whether the gas pressure at the boiler inlet is over 18 mbar (Frame 79). Check at maximum rate (hot tap fully open) at the inlet gas pressure test point on the gas service cock (Frames 36 and 37). The MI says the gas cock can reduce the pressure read at its test point, and gives a pressure drop graph against heat input (MI p. 8). The boiler can give full output down to 14 mb. Gas supply is 2H, G20, 20 mbar (Table 1).

More infoHide infoMaximum DHW input (Table 3). Maximum CH input is 0.698 l/s for all sizes (Table 2). Calculated using a gross CV of 38.7 MJ/m³. Check at the gas meter at full DHW output with no other appliance in use (Frame 40).

Check these figures against the MI for the appliance in front of you, matched by GC number and manual date. Combustion work needs a calibrated analyser and a Gas Safe registered engineer.
