Combustion figures

FigureNatural gas (G20)
CO₂ at high rate
More infoHide infoTable 1 gives these as CO₂ content at Max. DHW, with the ± 0.7 tolerance in the row heading.
C26
9.4% ± 0.7
C32
9.8% ± 0.7
C40
9.6% ± 0.7
CO₂ at low rate
More infoHide infoTable 1 gives these as CO₂ content at Min. DHW.
C26
8.0% ± 0.7
C32
8.5% ± 0.7
C40
8.1% ± 0.7
Maximum CO
More infoHide infoChecked at maximum and then minimum rate at the flue gas sampling point, letting readings stabilise (commissioning flowchart).
Less than 350 ppm
CO/CO₂ ratio
More infoHide infoAt maximum and minimum rate (commissioning flowchart). The servicing schedule (3.1) says to contact Ideal if the ratio is greater than 0.004 once flue integrity, inlet pressure and gas rate have been checked.
Less than 0.0040
O₂
Not given in MI
Working inlet pressure
More infoHide infoMeasured at the inlet pressure test point on the gas service cock with the boiler at maximum DHW rate. Section 1.8 says a minimum permitted operating pressure of 18 mb can be assumed at the appliance inlet, allowing 1 mb loss from the minimum meter outlet of 19 mb; the boiler can give full output at inlet pressures as low as 14 mb. The gas cock itself may drop the reading slightly (graph in 1.8). Table 1 gives the gas supply as 2H - G20 - 20mbar.
Appliance inlet
18 mbar minimum
Gas rate at maximum
More infoHide infoMaximum DHW input (Table 3), the rate checked at the meter on commissioning. Maximum CH input (Table 2): C26 1.869, C32 2.695, C40 3.314 m³/h. Calculated at 38.7 MJ/m³ gross.
C26
2.695 m³/h
C32
3.314 m³/h
C40
4.150 m³/h
Flue integrity
More infoHide infoAt the air inlet sample point on the flue turret, boiler at maximum rate. Either reading passes.
O₂ ≥ 20.6% or CO₂ ≤ 0.2%

Check these figures against the MI for the appliance in front of you, matched by GC number and manual date. Combustion work needs a calibrated analyser and a Gas Safe registered engineer.
