Working inlet pressure
More infoHide infoThe NG size lines are at the gas valve test point (the reference test point: sealing screw marked ‘in’ on the gas valve, Table 6.4), as is the LPG figure. Boiler at full load in test programme P.1, front casing off. Section 5.2 also says the dynamic gas connection pressure must be at least 19–23 mbar for natural gas and 37 mbar for propane, and that the pipework must be sized so 20 mbar is available at the boiler inlet at full flow rate. Table 13.1 gives a connection pressure (gas flow pressure) of 20 mbar for G20 and 37 mbar for G31.

Gas rate at maximum
More infoHide infoNominal figure, with the −10% and +5% limits from Table 6.3 in brackets (nominal net heat input 32 kW for the 832, 38 kW for the 838). Measured at the gas meter after at least 5 minutes in test programme P.1, front casing fitted, all other gas appliances off. Table 13.1 rounds the G20 figures to 3.4 and 4.0 m³/h; G31 figures are the same there.
832
3.39 m³/h (3.05–3.56)
838
4.02 m³/h (3.62–4.22)
832

838
2.95 kg/h (2.66–3.10)
Flue integrity
More infoHide infoAt the air measure point on the flue adaptor (Fig. 6.5), with a flue gas analyser. MI gives no figure: if any CO or CO₂ is found in the fresh air, search for flue gas leakage or recirculation and correct it; if it can’t be corrected, don’t start the boiler. Strongly recommended when the flue is longer than 2 m.

Check these figures against the MI for the appliance in front of you, matched by GC number and manual date. Combustion work needs a calibrated analyser and a Gas Safe registered engineer.
